I just checked out NBC’s SNF site, www.sundaynightisfootballnight.com, and they have a ton of cool stuff. Wallpaper, widgets, multimedia. You can look at Cleveland food, and facts about the team. They also have Madden, Michaels and Collinsworth talking about the Brown’s match ups. You should go see it, because the site is great!

Rueben Droughns and his back-ups

Blogged under Uncategorized by ravenhater on Wednesday 19 July 2006 at 1:22 pm

The halfback position is very important in the Browns new smash-mouth type offense.  Ruben Droughns, who only had 40 carries for 96 yards in the first four years of his NFL career has been very good the last two seasons (2,569 yards rushing, 8 TD, 15 runs of 20+ yards, 129 first downs rushing and 71 receptions for 610 yards and 2 TD).  Droughns is 28 years old, but he still has alot of tread on the tires due to the limited use at the start of his career.  Bigger things are in store for him this year as the Browns brought LeCharles Bentley and Kevin Shaffer in to make the line more physical in the running game.  Droughns wore down last December from the workload, but that shouldn’t be a problem this year.

Lee Suggs is a good player when he’s healthy, which is only about half the time.  Suggs has only played in 25 of the Browns 48 games since he was drafted.  In 2004, Suggs had a good season rushing for 744 yards and caught passes for another 178 yards…all in 10 games.  Suggs should see alot more playing time this season to keep Droughns fresh for the playoff push.

William Green also had a disappointing year last season as he only rushed for 78 yards in 8 games.  If 46 games in his career, he does have 2,109 yards rushing.  Green has not been a complete bust since he was drafted….just a disappointment.

Late last season (due to Suggs and Green being injured), Jason Wright got a chance to play a little when activated from the practice squad, but he didn’t impress (14 carries for 37 yards).  The Browns then used their 5th round draft choice on running back James Harrison from the University of Washington State.  Harrison ran for over 1900 yards for a lousy team….even though the other team knew he was coming.  Harrison will get a chance to be a third-down back and maybe more.  The only thing he lacks is size.
