The Cleveland Browns lose Brady Quinn for the rest of the year

The Browns have lost starting QB Brady Quinn for the rest of the year due to a foot injury.  Quinn played in 10 games for the Browns this season and he completed 136 of 256 passes (53.1%) for 1,339 yards with 8 TD passes and 7 INTs (67.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 20 times for 98 yards (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD run this year.  Quinn has now played in 14 games in his career with the Browns and he has completed 184 of 353 passes (52.1%) for 1,902 yards with 10 TD passes and 9 INTs (66.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 25 times for 119 yards (4.8 ypc) with a TD run in his career.  It will be interesting to see what the Browns decide to do with Brady Quinn.  I’m thinking that they will attempt to trade him on draft day and select a new QB to groom for the future.

The Cleveland Browns lose DE/DT C.J. Mosley for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Browns News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Tuesday 8 December 2009 at 6:19 pm

It seems like every week the Browns are losing at least one player for the year and this week it’s 26-year old DT/DE C.J. Mosley wiht a broken ankle.  Mosley played in 12 games for the Browns this season and he made 18 tackles.  Mosley was just starting to get a lot of playing time so this injury hurts him as much or more than it does the Browns.

Jamal Lewis of the Cleveland Browns appears to be forced into retirement

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Browns News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Wednesday 2 December 2009 at 6:03 pm

30-year old RB Jamal Lewis was looking forward to retiring at the end of the season and that will likely be sped up as he is likely to be placed on I.R. ending his season due to a serious concussion.  He had a MRI that showed abnormalities in his brain and there is no reason on God’s Green Earth to mess with that.  Lewis played in 9 games for the Browns this season carrying the ball 143 times for 500 yards (3.5 ypc) with 0 TD runs.  He also caught 8 passes for 88 yards (11.0 avg) this season for the Browns.  Lewis played in 40 games in his three years with the Browns and he carried the ball 720 times for 2,806 yards (4.0 ypc) with 13 TD runs.  Lewis also caught 61 passes for 514 yards (8.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs with Cleveland.

Lewis played in 131 games in his NFL career and he carried the ball 2,542 times for 10,607 yards (4.2 ypc) with 58 TD runs.  He also caught 221 passes for 1,879 yards (8.5 avg) with 4 TD grabs in his career.  Lewis ends his career with the 21st most rushing yards in NFL history and his 58 TD runs tied for 41st with Mike Alstott.  It’s just too bad that Lewis didn’t get to end his career on his own terms.

The Cleveland Browns lose Brodney Pool

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Browns News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Tuesday 1 December 2009 at 4:05 pm

The Browns may have lost starting strong safety Brodney Pool for the rest of the year after he suffered another concussion against the Bengals.  Pool played in all 11 games for the Browns this season and he made 50 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, defensed 10 passes, had 1 sack and he picked off 4 passes.  Pool has now played in 71 games in his 5-year NFL career and he has made 276 tackles, defensed 35 passes, forced 2 fumbles, has 4 sacks and 11 interceptions (1 returned for a TD).  The hope is that Pool will be able to return next season for the Browns but this is either his fourth or fifth concussion of his NFL career so one has to wonder how much longer he will play.

UPDATE:  Pool’s season is officially over as the Browns have placed him on I.R.

The Cleveland Browns lose NT Shaun Rogers for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Browns News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Monday 30 November 2009 at 8:33 am

30-year old starting NT Shaun Rogers will miss the remainder of the season for the Cleveland Browns with either a ankle or Achilles tendon injury.  He played in all 11 games for the Browns this season and he made 36 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 1 pass defensed.  Rogers has also blocked some kicks this season for the Brownies helping them out on special teams.  In two years with the Browns, Rogers has played in 27 games in which he has 112 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 5 passes defensed.  This will hurt the Browns big time as Rogers is without a doubt the best player on the defense.

UPDATE:  Shaun Rogers’ injury is a broken leg.
