Buffalo Bills 13, Cleveland Browns 6

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 12 December 2010 at 11:49 pm

The Browns were awful on offense in this game as they only had the ball for 23:50 of this game.  Jake Delhomme looked pathetic in this game as he completed 12 of 20 passes for 86 yards with 0 TD passes, 1 interception and a lost fumble deep in Browns’ territory.  Peyton Hillis rushed for 108 yards on 21 carries (5.1 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 10 yards (2.5 avg) in this game but he also fumbled three times losing one of them deep in Bills’ territory.  Mohamed Massaquoi led the way for the Browns in the passing game with 3 catches for 43 yards (14.3 avg).  The Browns finished up with 105 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 20 passes for 82 yards today.

LB Chris Gocong (10 tackles, 1 sack and a forced fumble), DT Ahtyba Rubin (9 tackles), safety T.J. Ward (8 tackles) and OLB Matt Roth (8 tackles) led the way for the Browns on D in this game.  CB Eric Wright even made a big play as he recovered a fumble deep in Bills’ territory.  The  Bills finished up with 192 yards rushing on 42 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 23 passes for 131 yards.  The Browns have falled to 5-8 on the season with this loss.

Cleveland Browns 13, Miami Dolphins 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 6 December 2010 at 4:58 pm

The Browns played great on defense yesterday and just good enough on offense to get a nice road win in Miami.  Safety Abram Elam (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and rookie corner Joe Haden (6 tackles, 4 passes defensed and a interception) led the way for the Browns’ D yesterday.  But it was LB David Bowens and CB Mike Adams who conspired to make the biggest and game winning play for the Browns.  Bowens batted up a pass with less than a minute to go in the game and Adams caught it on the other side of the field and returned it all the way to the Dolphins’ 2-yard line, setting up Phil Dawson for the game winning 23 yard field goal as time expired.  The Dolphins finished up with 114 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 32 passes for 167 yards.

The offense was pretty predictable until the second half when the Browns threw some passes on early downs with worked.  Jake Delhomme completed 24 of 34 passes for 217 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs yesterday as he played his best game of the year for the Browns.  Peyton Hillis had a rough game as he carried the ball 18 times for 57 yards (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 7 passes for 22 yards (3.1 avg).  TE Ben Watson (10 rec, 100 yards and a TD grab) and WR Mohamed Massaquoi (4 rec, 81 yards) led the way for the Browns in the passing game yesterday.  The Browns finished up with only 52 yards rushing on 22 carries (2.4 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 34 passes for 200 yards.  The Browns are now 5-7 on the year.

Cleveland Browns 24, Carolina Panthers 23

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 29 November 2010 at 8:12 pm

The Browns have had enough heartbreaking losses this year not to feel sorry at all for the Panthers who gave them all they could handle yesterday.  Kicker John Kasay of the Panthers missed a 42-yard field goal as time expired (it hit the left goal post) giving the Browns a home win.  Jake Delhomme at times thought he was still playing with the Panthers yesterday, especially in the second half.  Delhomme completed 24 of 35 passes for 245 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs (one of which was returned 37 yards for a TD by CB Captain Munnerlyn of the Panthers.  Peyton Hillis was incredible in this game for the Browns as he carried the ball 26 times for 131 yards (5.0 ypc) with 3 TD runs and he also caught 6 passes for 63 yards (10.5 avg).  Mike Bell pitched in with 14 yards rushing on 2 carries (7.0 ypc) yesterday in his best game so far  for the Browns.  WRs Mohamed Massaquoi (4 rec, 52 yards), Brian Robiskie (7 rec, 50 yards) and TE Ben Watson (4 rec, 40 yards) also had pretty decent games for the Browns yesterday.  The Browns finished up with 152 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 36 passes for 227 yards yesterday.

The defense was sloppy tackling against the running game yesterday and they let Jimmy Clausen hit some big passes late in this game.  CB Sheldon Brown (10 tackles, 1 pass defensed), safety Abram Elam (7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits), safety T.J. Ward (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and OLB Matt Roth (7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 3 QB hits) led the way for the Browns’ D yesterday.  Rookie CB Joe Haden pitched in with a interception in this game in his first NFL start.  The Panthers finished up with 151 yards rushing on 27 carries (5.6 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 28 passes for 175 yards yesterday.  The Browns are now 4-7 on the year.

Jacksonville Jaguars 24, Cleveland Browns 20

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 22 November 2010 at 3:28 pm

I have never seen a team by +5 in turnovers and lose a game which is exactly what the Browns did yesterday in Jacksonville.  Safety Abram Elam led the way for the Browns on D in this game with 6 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 interception and a fumble recovery (from David Garrard) that he returned 18 yards for a TD.  Fellow safety T.J. Ward also was all over the place in this game with 5 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Rookie QB Joe Haden (3 tackles, 3 passes defensed and a interception) and LB Chris Gocong (3 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries) also made some huge plays for the Browns in this game.  The Jaguars finished up with 145 yards on 28 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 25 passes for 226 yards.

Rookie QB Colt McCoy took over the ball with 1:16 left in the game and no timeouts.  He drove the ball all the way down the field and took a shot to the end zone late in the game that bounced off the hands of Ben Watson and into the hands of safety Sean Considine to end the game.  McCoy finished up completing 17 of 28 passes for 241 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 39 yards (9.8 ypc) in this game.  Peyton Hillis had a hard time finding running room as the carried the ball 21 times for only 48 yards (2.3 ypc) but he also caught 6 passes for 95 yards (15.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Evan Moore (3 rec, 69 yards) and WR Mohamed Massaquoi (4 rec, 51 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Browns yesterday.  The Browns finished up with 88 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 28 passes for 195 yards.  The Browns are now 3-7 on the season.

New York Jets 26, Cleveland Browns 20 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Sunday 14 November 2010 at 9:30 pm

The Jets knew where to go with the game on the line.  With 16 seconds left in O.T., Mark Sanchez looked for CB Eric Wright of the Browns and saw him covering Santonio Holmes.  Sanchez then hit him with a short pass that he turned into a 37-yard TD as Eric Wright looked like a matador, getting out of Holmes’ way!  He needs cut, period!  Wright’s ole’ tackle at the end of the game ruined an outstanding effort by the Browns.  Colt McCoy had his best game so far in my eyes.  He took the Browns on a long TD drive and ended it with a strike to Mohammed Massaquoi with 44 seconds left in the 4th quarter to send this game into O.T.  McCoy completed 18 of 31 passes for 205 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 11 yards (2.8 ypc) today.  Peyton Hillis led the way on the ground for the Browns in this game with 82 yards rushing on 19 carries (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 4 passes for 27 yards (6.8 avg) in this game.  TE Ben Watson led the way in the passing game for the Browns today with 5 grabs for 74 yards (14.8 avg).  WR Chansi Stuckey is Goat #1A for the Browns in this game.  He caught 4 passes for 27 yards (6.8 avg) in this game but he lost a fumble on the first Browns’ drive of O.T. in Jets’ territory.  The Browns finished up with 107 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 31 passes for 196 yards despite only having the ball for 27:36 in this game.

The Jets had the ball for an amazing 47:08 in this game.  The Browns were bending but no breaking on D until the last play of the game.  DT Ahtyba Rubin (9 tackles), DE Kenyon Coleman (8 tackles), LB David Bowens (8 tackles, 1 QB hit) and safety T.J. Ward (8 tackles, 2 passes defensed) led the way for the Browns in this game.  Rookie CB Joe Haden really stepped up in this game after injuries to starting CB Sheldon Brown and kickoff returner Josh Cribbs.  He finished up with 7 tackles, 2 passes defensed and a interception in overtime.  He also returned 2 kickoffs for 51 yards (25.5 avg) in this game.  The Jets finished up with 172 yards rushing on 45 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 44 passes for 284 yards.  The Browns are now 3-6 on the season.

Cleveland Browns 34, New England Patriots 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Monday 8 November 2010 at 8:52 am

The Cleveland Browns took the Patriots behind the Wood Shed yesterday in Cleveland Browns’ Stadium!  Colt McCoy was very efficient at QB as he completed 14 of 19 passes for 174 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 20 yards (6.7 ypc) with a TD run.  Peyton Hillis was a beast yesterday as he carried the ball 29 times for 184 yards (6.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 3 passes for 36 yards.  Mohammed Massaquoi led the way in the passing game for the Browns yesterday as he caught 4 passes for 58 yards (14.5 avg).  Josh Cribbs only caught 2 passes for 13 yards and he carried the ball 2 times for 2 yards but he was the QB on a trick play in which he handed the ball to Chansi Stuckey who was lined up right to his right.  Stuckey then took off running to the left and he scored on an 11 yard TD run.  The Browns finished up with 230 yards rushing on 44 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 19 passes for 174 yards as they had possession of the football for 38:08.

Safeties Abram Elam (8 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and T.J. Ward (7 tackles) led the way for the Browns in this game.  CB Eric Wright also had a solid game with 5 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Patriots finished up with 68 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 38 passes for 215 yards.  The Browns are now 3-5 on the season after this huge home win.

Cleveland Browns 30, New Orleans Saints 17

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Sunday 24 October 2010 at 6:08 pm

The Browns beat the Saints badly on special teams and defense which was enough to easily win in New Orleans yesterday.  Linebacker Scott Fujita was a beast against his old team as he had 11 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and a QB hit today.  He must have coached the defense up about Drew Brees and his WRs because the Browns have 4 interceptions on the day but they could have had 7 or 8 if they just caught the ball better on D.  Backup linebacker David Bowens was the star of the show for the Brownies today as he had 1 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Bowens returned both INTs for TDs with only going for 30 yards and the other going for 64 yards which sealed the Saints’ fate today!  CB Sheldon Brown also had a solid game for the Browns today with 7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  The Saints finished up with 58 yards rushing on 18 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 37 of 56 passes for 336 yards.

The special teams were outstanding for the Browns in this game and a big part of the reason was that the Saints actually were kicking the ball to Josh Cribbs.  Cribbs returned 3 kickoffs for 68 yards (22.7 avg) and he returned 3 punts for 40 yards (13.3 avg) today.  His best played though came on a punt return where he started to his right and then threw a lateral pass all the way to the other side of the field to CB Eric Wright who returned it 62 yards.  It’s about time that Wright made a positive impact for the Browns this year.  Punter Reggie Hodges took a snap on a 4th down deep in Browns territory shortly before halftime and he took off running.  He was tackled 68 yards later by the Saints.  That set up a Browns’ field goal.

Rookie QB Colt McCoy was in game manager mode for the Browns today.  He completed 9 of 16 passes for 74 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also caught a 13-yard pass from Peyton Hillis on a perfect play.  Hillis was busy with 16 carries for 69 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run today.  Brian Robiskie (3 rec, 25 yards) and Chansi Stuckey (2 rec, 16 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Browns today.  The Browns finished up with 125 yards rushing on 28 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 10 of 17 passes for 85 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 24:26.  The Browns are now 2-5 on the season after this shocking but well deserved victory.

Pittsburgh Steelers 28, Cleveland Browns 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Sunday 17 October 2010 at 5:15 pm

The Browns lost this game but it didn’t help when Josh Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi were both knocked out by cheap shots from Steelers’ OLB James Harrison who led with the head.  He will likely face a stiff fine from the NFL commissioner for the game altering hits.  Chansi Stuckey lost a fumble on a punt return that set up one of the TDs on a ball that Josh Cribbs would have never not caught.  Anyway, despite the final score the Browns did have some bright spots in this game.  Rookie QB Colt McCoy looked pretty solid overall for the Browns in this game as he completed 23 of 33 passes for 281 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 22 yards (5.5 ypc) today.  Peyton Hillis was busy as usual with 12 carries for 41 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 49 yards (8.2 avg).  TEs Ben Watson (6 rec, 88 yards, TD) and Evan Moore (4 rec, 84 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Browns today.  WR Chansi Stuckey pitched in with 4 grabs for 46 yards (11.5 avg) in this game.  The Browns finished up with 70 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 33 passes for 258 yards.

The Browns were led on defense by rookie safety T.J. Ward who led the team with 10 tackles and he laid out some big hits once again this week.  DT Ahtyba Rubin was tough inside with 8 tackles.  DE Brian Schaefering made a start at DE in the place of the injured Robaire Smith and he responded with 7 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  Rookie CB Joe Haden pitched in with 2 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 62 yards.  The Steelers finished up with 121 yards on 35 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 27 passes for 257 yards.  The Browns are now 1-5 on the season.

Atlanta Falcons 20, Cleveland Browns 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Sunday 10 October 2010 at 7:41 pm

The Cleveland Browns played hard this whole game but when Seneca Wallace had to leave the game with a ankle injury the wheels fell off for the Browns.  Wallace completed 11 of 15 passes for 139 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs as he was playing well again at the time of his injury.  Jake Delhomme replaced Wallace at QB and he looked like a deer in headlights.  He completed 13 of 23 passes for 97 with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs (one was returned for a TD by DE Kroy Biermann (40-yard return)).  Josh Cribbs threw a pass and it was a nice one as he completed it to Lawrence Vickers for 10 yards.  Peyton Hillis was a warrior today as he was clearly playing hurt the whole game.  He carried the ball 10 times for 28 yards (2.8 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 49 yards (12.3 avg) with a TD reception.  Mohamed Massaquoi (5 rec, 55 yards), Chansi Stuckey (5 rec, 54 yards) and Ben Watson (5 rec, 45 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Browns earlier today.  The Browns finished up with 48 yards rushing on 20 carries (2.4 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 39 passes for 221 yards.

The defense played hard for the Browns today as they only gave up 13 points.  OLB Matt Roth (8 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and rookie safety T.J. Ward (7 tackles and a blocked field goal) led the way for the Brownies on D today.  The Falcons finished up with 165 yards on 31 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 28 passes for 173 yards today.  The Browns are 1-4 on the year now.

Cleveland Browns 23, Cincinnati Bengals 20

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Monday 4 October 2010 at 6:25 pm

The Browns won this game by playing decent in all three facets of this game as they seemed to be making the bulk of the big plays!  Seneca Wallace was effective for the Browns in this game as he completed 18 of 30 passes for 184 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Peyton Hillis was a horse again for the Browns with 27 carries for 102 yards (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 8 yards (4.0 avg).  Ben Watson (6 rec, 60 yards), Chansi Stuckey (5 rec, 56 yards) and Evan Moore (1 rec, 24 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Browns yesterday.  The Browns finished up with 116 yards rushing on 35 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 30 passes for 179 yards.

Terrell Owens busted the Browns up for 222 yards receiving on 10 grabs (1 TD catch) but they stopped almost everyone else.  Safety T.J. Ward led the way for the Browns in this game with 9 tackles.  CB Joe Haden (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed), OLB Matt Roth (6 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 3 QB hits) and LB Scott Fujita (5 tackles, 1 sack and a blocked field goal also had solid games for the Browns.  DE Kenyon Coleman had his best game ever for the Browns yesterday with 3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 QB hit.  The Bengals finished up with 67 yards rushing on 18 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 36 passes for 346 yards.  The Browns are now 1-3 on the year.
