The Cleveland Browns cut Arnold Harrison

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by admin on Thursday 31 December 2009 at 5:40 pm

The Browns have cut linebacker Arnold Harrison.  Harrison played in 4 games for the Browns making 5 tackles.  He played in 12 games this season for the Browns and Steelers making 12 tackles.  This is absolutely no loss for the Cleveland Browns who have a lot of decent players on special teams.

Rookie WR Brian Robiskie is likely done for the season for the Cleveland Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report by admin on Thursday 31 December 2009 at 5:39 pm

Brian Robiskie will likely miss the season finale for the Cleveland Browns due to a ankle injury.  He has played in 11 games this season for the Browns and he has caught 7 passes for 106 yards (15.1 avg) and he also made 3 tackles.  I hope the Browns learned their lesson about drafting Ohio State Buckeyes to make the fans happy.

The Cleveland Browns are sending two players to the Pro Bowl

Blogged under Big Browns News,Bloglockers,Front Page,The Pro Bowl by admin on Wednesday 30 December 2009 at 1:42 pm

26-year old Josh Cribbs was selected as the kick returner for the Pro Bowl and 25-year old OT Joe Thomas will be going with him.  Cribbs has played in 15 games for the Browns this season and he has returned 54 kickoffs for 1,502 yards (27.8 avg).  Cribbs has also returned 35 punts for 434 yards (12.4 avg) with 1 TD return.  This will be Cribbs’ second Pro Bowl appearance in his career and it was a deserved one.  6’6″, 312 pound left tackle Joe Thomas will be going to his third Pro Bowl in only his third season in the NFL showing what kind of player he has been for the Browns.  He has never missed a game playing in all 47 games for the Browns.  Whenever the team runs left they seem to get a lot of yards and Thomas keeps the QB from getting hit in the back.  He is by far the most underrated player on the Cleveland Browns.

Safety Abram Elam is leading the Cleveland Browns in tackles this season, but……

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Needs to Step Up by admin on Wednesday 30 December 2009 at 12:25 pm

28-year old safety Abram Elam has played in all 15 games for the Browns this season and he has 85 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 pass defensed.  But, Elam has not really been a impact player for the Browns.  He was the player that head coach Eric Mangini really wanted in the draft day trade that sent Mark Sanchez to the Jets.  If Elam can start adding some big plays to the tackles he has been making then the Browns will be happy with him.

Cleveland Browns 23, Oakland Raiders 9

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Monday 28 December 2009 at 8:12 am

The Browns won this game by running the ball on offense and playing solid defense.  Derek Anderson managed the game well yesterday for the Browns completing 8 of 17 passes for 121 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Jerome Harrison led the way on the ground again for the Browns yesterday with 148 yards rushing on 39 carries (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Mohammed Massaquoi had his best game in quite a while with 3 grabs for 61 yards (20.3 avg) with a TD grab.  The Browns finished up with 282 total yards on offense (164 rushing, 118 passing) in this game.

Safety Mike Adams led the way for the Browns on defense yesterday with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 2 passes defensed and 1 QB hit.  OLB Matt Roth also had a great game for the Browns yesterday with 5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1.5 sacks and 3 QB hits.  CBs Brandon McDonald, Eric Wright and linebacker David Bowens each picked off a pass from Raiders’ QB Charlie Frye who thought that he was still playing with the Browns.  The Raiders finished up with 389 total yards on offense (88 rushing, 301 passing) in this game.  The Browns have now won three games in a row as they are now 4-11 on the year.

Blake Costanzo has found a home with the Cleveland Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 26 December 2009 at 1:50 pm

25-year old back-up linebacker Blake Costanzo has found a home in Cleveland.  He has played in 14 games for the Browns this season and he has 13 tackles and 3 forced fumbles this year.  Those numbers don’t look that impressive until you consider that he really only plays on special teams which makes those numbers look outstanding.

Oakland Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Thursday 24 December 2009 at 12:57 pm

This should be a fast football game on Sunday as neither team will be passing much.  That means that Jerome Harrison will be having another large workload this weekend against a Raiders’ D that is allowing 148.9 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry.  Chris Jennings and Josh Cribbs will also likely get a few carries each this week.  Derek Anderson is starting this week and the Raiders have a great set of CBs.  So when the Browns pass the ball look for TE Evan Moore to get a lot of passes thrown his way.

Charlie Frye is starting for the Raiders at QB this week so look for the Raiders to also keep the ball on the ground.  The Browns must gang up to stop Michael Bush, Justin Fargas and Darren McFadden and force the Raiders to throw the ball.  If the Browns can slow down the Raiders running game they should win this football game because Charlie Frye isn’t going to beat them through the air.

PREDICTION:  BROWNS 17, RAIDERS 16

The Cleveland Browns sign Mike Holmgren

Blogged under Big Browns News,Bloglockers,Front Page by admin on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 7:07 pm

The Browns have signed 61-year old Mike Holmgren to be the new president of the team.  Holmgren coached 17 years in the NFL compiling a 161-111 (59.2%) record with the Packers and Seahawks.  He also was 13-11 (54.2%) in the post season in his career winning a Super Bowl in 1996 with the Packers.  He also lost two Super Bowls (1997 Packers, 2005 Seahawks) as a head coach.  It will be interesting to see who Holmgren brings in as the G.M. and the head coach.  Look for him to bring in guys that he will be comfortable working with as the Browns need re-built likely from the ground up.  This was a great move for the Browns to bring in someone that is used to winning and knows how to build a football team.

Derek Anderson is back in as the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 3:14 pm

Derek Anderson will be back behind the center the last two weeks of the season for the Cleveland Browns.  It will likely be a audition for the rest of the NFL as I don’t see any way in hell he’s still with the Browns in 2010.  Anderson has played in 6 games for the Browns this season and he has completed 66 of 154 passes (42.9%) for 681 yards with 2 TD passes and 9 INTs (36.2 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 8 times for 7 yards (0.9 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  In Anderson’s four years with the Browns he has played in 37 games in which he has completed 572 of 1,081 passes (52.9%) for 6,876 yards with 45 TD passes and 44 INTs (69.6 QB Rating).  Anderson has also carried the ball 69 times for 179 yards (2.6 ypc) with 5 TD runs in his career.  I’m thinking that Anderson will get cut after the season no matter what he does the next two weeks.

The Cleveland Browns lose Brady Quinn for the rest of the year

Blogged under Big Browns News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 3:09 pm

The Browns have lost starting QB Brady Quinn for the rest of the year due to a foot injury.  Quinn played in 10 games for the Browns this season and he completed 136 of 256 passes (53.1%) for 1,339 yards with 8 TD passes and 7 INTs (67.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 20 times for 98 yards (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD run this year.  Quinn has now played in 14 games in his career with the Browns and he has completed 184 of 353 passes (52.1%) for 1,902 yards with 10 TD passes and 9 INTs (66.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 25 times for 119 yards (4.8 ypc) with a TD run in his career.  It will be interesting to see what the Browns decide to do with Brady Quinn.  I’m thinking that they will attempt to trade him on draft day and select a new QB to groom for the future.
