The Cleveland Browns kept trading down in the first round to get extra picks and Don Carey was one of those.  He is 5′11″, 186 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40.  Carey will likely battle for jobs in the nickel and dime defenses as a rookie but he could develop into a starter down the road.  He played in 44 games (40 starts) in four seasons at Norfolk State in which he made 179 tackles, broke up 25 passes, had 10 interceptions (181 yards), forced 2 fumbles and he recovered 4 fumbles.  Carey should be a immediate contributor on special teams for the Browns.  This was a good pick in the 6th round for the Browns as Carey was projected to go much higher.

4. (104) Kaluka Maiava, LB

The Browns wanted to improve their linebacking corps in this draft and Maiava could help them there.  He is only 5′11″, 226 pounds so he will likely have to play on the outside.  He does have the speed to handle it as he runs a 4.75 40.  Maiava is also a good special teams player which should get him on the field as a rookie.  Maiava played in 51 games (15 starts) in 4 years at USC in which he made 164 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, he had 2 sacks, broke up 7 passes and he had 2 interceptions.  He projects as a backup but he could surprise down the road for the Browns.
