Will the Browns go into Training Camp with both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn on the roster?  That will depend on who the next head coach of the Browns will be.  It might be time for the Browns to give Brady Quinn his big chance in 2009.  He played in 3 games (all starts) for the Browns last season and he completed 45 of 89 passes (50.6%) for 518 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions (66.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 5 times for 21 yards (4.2 ypc).  Quinn might not have Derek Anderson’s arm strength but he protects the ball better, has more touch on his passes and he’s more mobile.  Quinn has now played in 4 games (3 starts) in his NFL career and he has completed 48 of 97 passes (49.5%) for 563 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions (65.8 QB Rating).

25-year old Derek Anderson isn’t exactly a geezer here.  He was also victimized by Braylon Edwards’ drops as it cost him at least 2-3 TD passes in 2008.  Anderson played in 10 games (9 starts) for the Browns in 2008 and he completed 142 for 283 passes (50.2%) for 1,615 yards with 9 TD passes and 8 interceptions (66.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 25 times for 55 yards (2.2 ypc).  The Browns were expecting much more than they got out of Anderson after he was a Pro-Bowler in 2007.  Anderson has now played in 31 games (27 starts) in his career with the Browns and he has completed 506 of 927 passes (54.6%) for 6,195 yards with 43 TD passes and 35 interceptions (75.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the football 61 times for 172 yards (2.8 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  The Browns might decide to trade Anderson in April if they get a decent pick for him, but, he has the physical talent to haunt the Browns down the road if they move him.
