6. (190) Ahtyba Rubin, DT

Ahtyba Rubin is a classic NT/DT as he takes on double teams and helps keep the linebackers clean.  That is his greatest skill as he doesn’t make a lot of plays.  Rubin played in 24 games (20 starts) at Iowa State and he made 76 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss and had 2.5 sacks.  He stands at 6′2″, 321 pounds so he has the size to be effective as long as he keeps low.  He will be buried on the Browns’ depth chart as a rookie.

4. (111) Martin Rucker, TE

The Browns traded back into the 4th round with the Cowboys to select TE Martin Rucker who many experts thought would have been drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round.  Rucker is not a good blocker but he is a very good receiver and that will help the Browns.  With Kellen Winslow’s knee problems and Steve Heiden’s back problems the Browns wanted some insurance at the position and Rucker will provide much more than that.  Rucker is a big target at 6′4″, 248 pounds and he runs a 4.63 40.  Rucker played in 50 games (all starts) at Missouri and he caught 203 passes for 2,175 yards (10.7 avg) with 18 TD grabs.  This was a great pick by the Browns.

4. (104) Beau Bell, MLB

The Browns were ecstatic when Bell was available for them in the 4th round as they had him graded as a 2nd rounder.  Bell is the classic middle linebacker as he loves to blow up ball carriers.  Still, he would need help from the D-Line to keep him clean and let him make plays.  Bell is 6′1″, 243 pounds and he runs a 4.65 40 which is very fast for a man his size.  He played in 40 games (25 starts) at UNLV and he finished there with 305 tackles, 25 tackles for a loss, had 10.5 sacks, broke up 9 passes and he also intercepted 4.  He will likely push Andra Davis for his starting job next season unless he beats him out this year.  Bell will also likely be an assassin on special teams from the get go.  This was an outstanding pick by the Browns.
