The Browns acted quickly to help the defensive backfield after losing Daven Holly for the season.  Cousin signed a two year contract with the Browns.  He played in 16 games with the Jaguars last season and he made 47 tackles, defensed 3 passes, had 1 sack, forced 1 fumble and intercepted 1 pass.  Cousin has now played in 156 games in his NFL career and he has made 480 tackles, has 6.5 sacks, forced 5 fumbles and picked off 12 passes.  Cousin will likely be the nickel or dime back for the Browns this season.

The Browns have placed CB Daven Holly on the Injured Reserve List after he needed surgery on an severely injured knee.  This was going to be his big chance as he was slotted to battle 2nd year man Brandon McDonald for a starting job at corner.  Holly played in 15 games last season for the Browns and he made 48 tackles, defensed 8 passes and forced a fumble.  Holly has now played in 32 games in his NFL career and he has made 107 tackles, defensed 18 passes, forced 1 fumble and intercepted 5 passes including one that he returned for a TD.  This hurts the Browns big time as they will need to scramble to find some CB help.

The Browns have signed CB/S Jereme Perry to a 1-year contract.  Perry played in 4 games for the Dolphins last season and he made 3 tackles.  Perry has now played in 16 games in his NFL career and he has made 21 tackles and defensed 5 passes.  The Browns have also terminated CB Kenny Wright’s contract due to off field issues.  Wright played in 7 games (1 start) for the Browns last season and he made 6 tackles.
