The Browns trade Reuben Droughns to the New York Giants for WR Tim Carter
When the Browns signed Jamal Lewis that pretty much was the beginning of the end for Reuben Droughns stay in Cleveland. Droughns had a sub par year for the Browns last season as he played in 14 games (12 starts) and he carried the ball 220 times for 758 yards (3.4 ypc) with 4 TD runs. He also caught 27 passes for 169 yards (6.3 avg). In Droughns two seasons for the Browns he played in 30 games (28 starts) and he carried the ball 529 times for 1,990 yards (3.8 ypc) with 6 TD runs. He also caught 66 passes for 538 yards (8.2 avg).
The Browns have brought in WR Tim Carter. Carter played in 16 games for the Giants last season (8 starts) and he caught 22 passes for 253 yards (11.5 avg) with 2 TD catches. The 6′0″, 200 pound Carter has played 5 seasons in the NFL. He’s played in 53 games (11 starts) and he has caught 72 passes for 967 yards (13.4 avg) with 3 TD grabs. He also has carried the ball 11 times for 97 yards (8.8 ypc) and he’s returned 6 kickoffs for 87 yards (14.5 avg). Look for the speedy Carter to try to fill Dennis Northcutt’s role in the Browns offense.
