Browns by the numbers

The Browns offense has been pitiful so far this season and it cost offensive co-ordinator Maurice Carthon his job…..and rightly so!  The Browns only average 14.7 points per game, and that’s especially horrible given all the good field position that their kick returners have given them this season.  The Browns only average 68.2 yards rushing per game and 3.2 yards per carry.  The Browns average 177.0 net yards passing per game and complete 61.7% of their passes.  The Browns need Charlie Frye to make quicker decisions and try to get the ball downfield to their playmakers.

The defense is allowing 21.0 points per game, which isn’t too bad for them because the defense is always on the field and the secondary is severely beaten up.  The Browns can’t stop the run, allowing 144.2 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry.  That is unexceptable!  The Browns allow 192.8 net yards passing per game, but they would give up much more if teams didn’t have such an easy job running the ball on them.  The Browns allow opponents to complete 54.6% of their passes.

Hopefully the new offensive co-ordinator can get the offense going and help protect the defense a little by keeping them off of the field.
