Justin Hamilton, practice squad bound?

Blogged under The Draft Report, Front Page by ravenhater on Tuesday 27 June 2006 at 8:31 pm

It’s hard to see Hamilton making the team as he didn’t even rank at safety in many publications.  He’s a tad slow for a safety but he’s a big guy.  The one thing he’s got going for him is that he played at Virginia Tech and coach Frank Beamer usually has some of the best special teams around…..so that is where Hamilton will probably get his chance.

Babatunde Oshinowo, great value pick

Blogged under The Draft Report, Front Page by ravenhater on Tuesday 27 June 2006 at 8:27 pm

Oshinowo was projected to be drafted as high as the second round due to his fantastic Senior Bowl week.  But he dropped to the Browns in the sixth round.   Oshinowo started 34 games in his Stanford career and recorded 30 tackles for a loss and recorded 15 sacks from the interior of the DL.  Oshinowo’s biggest skill is taking on the double team and protecting the line-backers.  He should see plenty of time on the field this season, and learn from Ted Washington.

Lawrence Vickers, heir-apparent to Terrelle Smith?

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Tuesday 27 June 2006 at 8:19 pm

The Browns made a curious pick here.  Vickers best quality is catching the ball which is a little strange for a fullback.  He’s not a blow-up blocker, but he probably will get a little bigger as he only weighs 233 lbs.  Vickers is a good special teams player and will probably contribute in that facet of the game immediately.  He will have to get substantially tougher to replace Smith as a starter.

DeMario Minter, tough new CB

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Tuesday 27 June 2006 at 8:15 pm

DeMario Minter brings a toughness against the run that the Browns are looking for.  Minter has 4.4 speed, and gets his hands on tons of passes…..he just doesn’t catch them (2 INT in 26 starts at Georgia).  Minter should play immediately in the Browns dime packages and on special teams because of his speed and sure tackling ability.
